Short Ride

Following two weeks with no "official" ride due to rain, four groups left Holt Drive. John was offering a short ride to Oaklands in Kegworth and was joined by Eric, Margaret and Mike.

The riders headed out through the University, climbed to Shepshed and headed on north to Long Whatton.

They then took Kegworth Lane up to the bypass before a rapid descent into Kegworth.

After taking refreshments outside, Eric took the direct route home, down the A6, while the 3 remaining riders crossed the Soar and headed south through Sutton Bonnington. Here Margaret and Mike peeled off to visit Betty, who is recovering from a fall that resulted in some broken bones, leaving John to ride the final leg solo back to Loughborough.

Intermediate Ride

The 9th September was a glorious autumn day with an excellent turnout at HD and four rides on offer, this is the ride I went on!

Who was on the ride?

Eight of us “elite” (no stabilisers!!) cyclists …. Andrew, Chris, Dave, Ian (leader), Matt, Mick, Myles and Pete.

Where did you go?

Out to the fabulous Beardsleys at Rearsby. Fabulous service and really enjoyed sitting outside on a glorious autumnal morning.

It was Myles’s birthday and he very generously treated us all!

How did you get there and back?

There:- Quorn - Barrow - Sileby - Cossington - Syston - Queniborough - East Goscote - Rearsby.

Back:- Thrussington - Ratcliffe - Cossington - Sileby - Mountsorrel - Quorn.

What was discussed at coffee time?

Park runs, Donald Trump, disastrously potentially forgetting wedding anniversaries!!! fashion back in the day, flared trousers, kipper ties (no idea how we got onto most of these subjects!!).

About 1245 after 25 miles riding and a fantastic morning.
