Short Ride

Report by Andrew

An absolutely glorious morning dawned for enthusiastic and keen cyclists heading to Holt Drive for their weekly dose of boot camp, eclectic banter and fine dining.

Millie's was on offer, always a fantastic destination and today was no exception.

The ride went out through Hoton, Wymeswold, Seagrave and onto Millie’s and then back through Barrow and Quorn.

I can vouch for the galaxy cookie at Millie's, crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside .. heaven on a plate.

The riders, some full time, some part time included:- Andrew, Chris, David x 2, Ian (Leader), Keith, Marcus, Margaret, Matt, Mick x 2, Myles,

Back in Loughborough at approximately 1230 after a fabulous ride in the low 20 miles.

Short Ride 2

Report by John

After the other rides had departed just John and Eric remained for a ride to Birstall. They headed out via Cross Lane and through the Shelthorpe estate and into the South Loughborough development. Here they tried exploring a new route and ventured onto Allendale Field where a kissing gate leading to Allendale Road was discovered. However, as this is time consuming to navigate with a bicycle, this would not be a good route for a larger group to follow.

The riders then headed on south down the old A6 and wended their way through Birstall to the Methodist Church Hall for their excellent value coffee and cake.

The return journey was through Watermead Park and alongside the Grand Union Canal, where the riders overtook Halseyondays, one of the Baldwin Trust Narrow Boats.

Eric dropped off at his home in Sileby and John carried on back to Loughborough via Mountsorrel.
