Who?

Ian led a group of riders including myself, Mick, Chris, Betty, Terry, Anne, as well as Ian's wife Jo who retired from work the previous day!!

Where did you go?

We went to the fantastic coffee shop at East Goscote Nurseries just outside Cossington. It was as brilliant as always and sitting out in the shade was a delight.

The offerings at East Goscote nurseries were as delicious as always and I'm led to believe the cakes were an absolute treat!

I rather let the side down just managing the small free “jammy dodger” accompanying my tea rather than lovely portions.

What were the roads like?

There were three sets of temporary traffic lights to navigate in Woodhouse, Rothley and also Quorn which were nice excuses for a breather.

But on the upside the carriageway between Mountsorrel and Quorn near to the cemetery had recently been resurfaced to provide a nice smooth ride.

How far did you ride and what was the route?

We rode about 19 miles today.

Out to East Goscote Nurseries… through Quorn, Old Woodhouse, Swithland and Rothley.

One of the interesting anecdotes was near Swithland Reservoir and was Ian climbing over a fence (nature called).

He was proud to undertake this manoeuvre rather more successfully than Jordan Henderson who broke his arm recently attempting this task on England football duty!! Not surprisingly for those who know Ian, it looks like he is more athletic than a highly tuned sportsman!!

Back from East Goscote Nurseries..through Cossington, left at the church in Sileby and back through Mountsorrel and Quorn.

Was it a good morning?

No it was not a good morning, it was an excellent morning!!! 👍👍👍👍

Short Ride 2

With the prospect of a sunny and hot day, Max, Clyde, Derek, Eric, Mike, Dennis, John N., Margaret and David chose to join John for a ride to Millies Tea Room above Barrow on Soar.

The riders set out through Loughborough, taking Meadow Lane to Stanford on Soar, where they turned east to Cotes. Here they took the main road up to Hoton from where they headed east via Wymeswold Road that led them into Narrow Lane and onto Six Hills.

The riders then took the direct route down the Salt Way (with a tail wind) to Millies. Upon arrival riders set about unwrapping the awning to provide seating out of the direct sunlight.

With the temperature continuing to climb the direct route back to Loughborough via Barrow and Quorn was taken.
