Short Ride
Report by Andrew
A bright sunny day with a chilly breeze produced another splendid turn out at Holt Drive and four rides on offer.
Who was on the ride?
Ian lead a short ride for an eclectic band of cyclists including Andrew, Clyde, Dave x 2, Dom, Helen, Mick, Rob P and Sandy.
Where did you go?
It's not often one of the rides takes in a coffee shop which I haven't previously visited on a Wednesday morning, but today was one of those days. Daisy’s at the Brook Lea Garden Centre just outside Rothley was our destination and while it was busy, I thought it was really nice!!

How did you get there and back?
Tricky one this!! (Wracks brains!!) Out through the Meadows and a right turn at Stanford on Soar, up lots of hills before the scenic route through Sileby, then the lovely stretch into Cossington and Rothley before arriving at our destination. Coming back was really nice as it was up towards Swithland and then the lovely descent into Quorn and home along the old A6.
What were the roads like?
Some really good riding conditions, getting to the Meadows is always a challenge with so many sets of traffic lights, but no temporary lights until closing in on Rothley.
When did you get back to Loughborough?
At about 1245, after 21 miles on the road.
Why did you want to go out riding today and were your expectations met?
Great countryside ๐
Splendid company ๐
Lovely coffee shop ๐
Enjoyable exercise๐
Shortest Ride
Report by John
After the 3 other rides had departed, just John and Dennis remained. They headed out through Loughborough seeing Ian's group ahead as it was split by rapidly changing traffic lights while heading for Meadow Lane.
Ian's group headed south towards Barrow while John and Dennis progressed north through Kingston and then turned south down West Leake Lane and then via Brickyard Lane to Travell's Hill from which they descended via Butt Lane to Normanton and refreshments at the village shop.
They then returned to Loughborough via Fox Hill.
