Short Ride
A beautiful late spring morning, with lots of sunshine promised, produced a good turnout with 4 rides departing Holt Drive.
John offered a ride to the Flying Goose Cafe based at Swim Six Hills. He was joined by Terry, Rob, Dennis, Marcus and Anne.
The Riders headed out via Cross Lane and Shelthorpe and headed south to Quorn and then crossed the Soar at Barrow and, as they negotiated their way to Melton Road, they came across Andew and Myles who were in Ian's group and who had stopped to deal with a mechanical problem.
The pair joined the riders and further down the road the group also picked up Helen who had been waiting for them. The group climbed up onto the Salt Way where they encountered the rest of Ian's group waiting for the delayed riders. The groups merged until they reached Big Lane where Ian's group turned right towards Seagrave, apart from David who decided be would prefer the ride to Six Hills.
On arriving at Swim Six Hill, the riders discovered that the sunshine had brought out a large number of swimmers and the cafe was very busy. However a table was found and after a short wait the food and drinks were delivered. At this point Derek arrived, having been delayed by a failure to charge the battery on his e-bike. The helpful staff allowed him to carry on charging while he took refreshments.

Since some riders needed to get back to Loughborough promptly, it was agreed that Marcus would return separately with Derek, once he was fully recharged, while the rest of the riders returned to Loughborough via Narrow Lane, Wymeswold, Hoton, Cotes, Stanford and Meadow Lane, arriving back c.12.30pm.

Who?
Following on from two unbearably red hot days, Wednesday 27th May was much nicer. There was another good turnout at Holt Drive and a ride to Thrussington was on offer … too good an offer for me to turn down!!!
Ian lead our ride, also on it were Andrew (myself), Betty, Chris, Helen, John, Matt (a very welcome debutant), Max, Mick, Myles and Phil.

Where?
The coffee shop at Thrussington, a fantastic choice with the lovely shady green for outdoor seating. The refreshments were good, especially the cinnamon whirl which I can definitely recommend!!
Lovely, quintessentially English village, with a fabulous green. The coffee shop was bedecked with an Arsenal flag, presumably in honour of their recent Premier League win and in anticipation of a possible Champions League win this Saturday (30th May).
How did you get there and back?
Please don't ask such difficult questions, with my memory that's not called for and bang out of order!! 😁😁.
We headed out to Quorn and then on to Barrow, up Paudy Lane to Seagrave, Six Hills, Ragdale, Hoby, Thrussington and a welcome stop.

Then back home through Ratcliffe, Cossington, Sileby and a left turn at the Church and over the river before arriving in Mountsorrel, then home through Quorn along the old A6.
When did you get home?
At around 1245 after 25 miles.
What were the cycling conditions like?
The roads weren't too busy although there were a few drivers with “anger management” issues. Not too many pot holes and only one set of (admittedly four way) temporary traffic lights.
Why did you go out today and were your expectations met?
Great ride? 👍Great company? 👍
Great coffee shop? 👍
