Short Ride

Andrew’s match report
(With a little help from messers Mercury, May, Deacon and Taylor aka Queen).

Don't Stop Me Now

There were two short / shortish rides on offer, and so the writer of these words offered chocolate celebrations as a non too subtle bribe to those who came with him on Eric's ride. (Although his favourite maltesers were removed first).

So we left with seven riders … Eric, Margaret, Andrew, Myles, John, Chris and Dennis.

“Bicycle Race”

Following on from my sweet treat of a bribe we left Holt Drive and headed out on the old A6 through Quorn and Mountsorrel towards Rothley and then past Rothley Golf Club and through Thurcaston heading into Leicester. As we approached Red Hill flyover Margaret peeled off for an early return to LB.

One Vision

As we crossed Abbey Road, I was looking forward to refreshments and had one vision, to get to the coffee shop in Abbey Park for teas, coffees, cakes, bacon sandwiches and most importantly insane and inane banter!!

Eric, John, Myles, Chris, Dennis & Andrew at Abbey Park Tea Room.

Under Pressure

It was here that I put myself under a ridiculous amount of pressure, stress and anxiety, by offering to write up the match report. I advised it wouldn't quite be of Shakespearean quality, the response was as long as it's not Pam Ayres!!!

Sheer Heart Attack

Following on from which while in Abbey Park, I asked a gardener from The Parks’ Department if he could take a group photo to accompany this report. He almost collapsed on his geraniums through a sheer heart attack as he thought I wanted to take a photo of him, but was talked round!

A kind of magic

After refreshments I anticipated the slog home, actually it wasn't a slog at all as it was a kind of magic riding through beautiful Watermead Park into Cossington. Then it was into Sileby where we said farewell to Eric. Subsequently, it was the usual route home through Mountsorrel and Quorn.

Total distance approx 26 miles
Back in LB approx 1.15pm.
