Medium Ride, Report by Graham I hadn't planned to lead a ride today, but there was an exceptionally large crowd, and a dearth of leaders, so I led Nim, Pat, Rob Smith, Stuart, Mick, and Marcus to Café Blue at Sawley Marina, on a bright but chilly day. Outbound we took the A6 to Hathern, turning left to Long Whatton and then right up Kegworth Lane to the bypass, from where we crossed the A453 and descended past Amazon et al into Lockington. Then under the A50 onto Netherfield Lane and right onto Tamworth Road to the marina. Netherfield Lane was on the news recently as one of the most fly tipped lanes in the county: no problem with fly tipping today, but we were attacked by a flock of out of control dogs, under the stewardship (or not) of a dog walker. It could have been nasty had we had children in the group. Anyway, we battled on the the café, commandeering a round table and consuming a r...

Medium Ride to Gorse Hill City Farm Report by Graham Despite the chilly and dull morning, a large crowd had gathered at HQ, awaiting JC's directives. Continuing on route 6 towards Leicester, we turned off after Ellis Meadows, past the pumping station, and after a short but hilly urban section, we arrived at our destination, Gorse Hill farm café. None of us,...

Short Ride Report by John A cool overcast morning saw Dennis, Eric, Andrew, Myles, Chris and David join John on a ride to Millies. The Riders headed out through Loughborough taking Meadow Lane to Stanford where they turned south to Cotes. Here they turned left up the A60 to Hoton where they turned east to Wymeswold. Myles and Andrew ahead of David on the Salt Way. There was still some evidence of recent flooding in the village and some muddy stretches along Narrow Lane. Arriving at Six Hills the group turned west along the Salt Way to Millies where refreshments were taken inside. Dennis, Eric, Andrew, Myles, Chris and David at Millies The riders emerged to find that the sun had put in an appearance and they returned to Loughborough via Barrow and Quorn, arriving back around noon.   The other Short Ride Report by Tim On a dull but dry day, Arnold, Margaret, Jeff, John N, and Tim, led by Howard, headed to one of the refreshment establishments around Newtown Linford. A more gentl...
