A morning with sunshine and no frost saw a very good turnout of cyclists. Short Ride Report by John As no rides had gone through Bradgate Park since mid November John, Phil, David, Rosalind, Margaret, Patrick, Eric, Myles, Mick and John decided to head for Jade Cafe in Newtown Linford. The usual route was taken out past Mucklin Wood to Woodhouse and then on via Swithland to the northern entrance to the Park, where the range conveniently opened the gate as the riders approached. It was a beautiful day to be in the park which was shared with several walking groups through whom a way was successfully negotiated. After the usual excellent repast outside the Jade Cafe the riders returned via the Reservoir dam , Costock, Rothley Station, Swithland and Quorn, arriving back in Loughborough a bit before 12.30pm. Intermediate Ride Report Report by Keith From a good turnout at Holt Drive nine of us set off for Melbourne – Betty, Trish, Bryan, Vic, Ian, Rob (Stephens), Rob (Smith), Leig

Intermediate Ride Report Report by Vic The day dawned cloudy but frost free, after recent weeks’ icy conditions this boded well for a ride. So by 9.30 there was a fair contingent of LWC members eagerly awaiting the arrival of JC to announce the proposed options. There seemed to be a slight reluctance for the longish ride which I had offered to the Alpine cafe at Asfordby and a large group had gathered around Rob to set out to Granites at Mountsorrel. After a bit of discussion it was decided we would head to E Leake via Kingston. So a band of 8 set off through town and out via Stanford, Normanton, Sutton Bonnington, Kingston, W Leake and finally to E Leake where our chosen stop of the Farm shop / Donkey place awaited us. On arrival I turned around to talk to the group only to find myself addressing the Syston Wednesday Cycling group who had sprinted up the drive to arrive in front of our group. This meant we were in a queue behind them for the coffee and cakes, fortunately the st

Intermediate Ride Report Castle Donington Report by David Some of us need to get back to the weekly check of the cyclists’ website before we set off on a Wednesday morning. Thankfully, Marcus was around to gather the lost sheep who had turned up at 9:30 to wait in the warm in his house for the 10am start. Outside, the air was warm, the wind speed low; but again, there was ice on some surfaces. Nevertheless, there were many cyclists who, either daring or foolhardy, assembled to venture out today. The intermediate ride to Castle Donington was populated by Dave, Paul, Brian, Bryan, Ian, Rob and led by David. Slowly and carefully, we made our way down Holt Drive, through the greenbelt to the pedestrian crossing at Forest Road. All seemed fine with the path surfaces, so we added a little speed along Epinal Way. Then we proceeded along Maxwell Drive and off along the narrow bendy paths of Writer’s Way, which was riskier. The leader did not find Darwin Crescent which leads out

Short Ride 1 Report by John The forecast hadn't been for a frost so the turnout was quite good for such a cold morning Quite a few of the rider wanted a short ride so they split into two groups. Lynn, Myles, Mick, Robert, John and Isobel decided to head out over the Forest to Bawdon Lodge Farm as this offers a very airy tea stop. The group set out through the University to Shepshed and then out on Tickow Lane and up Charley Road to Bawdon Lodge. Only one other table was occupied and half the group opted for vegan sausage rolls that were due to come out of the oven. After refreshment Lynn chose to take the direct route back into Loughborough while the remaining riders continued up past the Beacon before enjoying a rapid decent to Woodhouse. The group then returned to Loughborough via Quorn arriving at about noon. Short Ride 2 Report by David Although the weather forecast indicated cold weather, a big sun was the highlight. When we got to Holt Drive, the paths were white w
